Engaged by Arthouse Projects to work alongside Studio Gorman, we became part of the team brought in to breathe new life into this harbourside home, the Quarterdeck. Originally built in 1959, the home was to double in size while staying true to its mid-century character, weaving in the latest technology without losing its understated, casual soul. The vision: a luxurious yet liveable home for a tech-savvy owner who wanted every modern convenience built into a house rich in character – including a wine cellar revealed by pulling the right book from the shelf.
Our role was to find the right joiner to bring this vision to life with the precision and quality of finish the project deserved. Joinery colours and materials were drawn from the surrounding bushland, with particular inspiration taken from the pale, patterned trunk of the scribbly gum that dominates the rear outlook – creating a natural connection between the interior and the landscape beyond. The result is a home that feels rooted in its era yet entirely of the present, a transformation that earned a well-deserved feature in Belle Magazine.
